The hazard switch and its hard wired circuits can be diagnosed using conventional diagnostic tools and methods. However, conventional diagnostic
methods may not prove conclusive in the diagnosis of the Front Control Module (FCM), the Electromechanical Instrument Cluster (EMIC), the
Controller Area Network (CAN) data bus or the electronic message inputs used to provide the electronic features of the hazard warning lighting. The
most reliable, efficient, and accurate means to diagnose the FCM, the EMIC, the CAN data bus, and the electronic message outputs for the hazard
warning lighting requires the use of a diagnostic scan tool.
