About the Grand Cherokee
The Grand Cherokee was introduced in April 1992 as an early 1993 model, built with a unibody when most SUVs still used a separate body and frame. It was the first Chrysler-badged Jeep, and at launch the only engine was the AMC-derived 4.0-litre straight-six.
What these manuals cover
- 1993–1998 (first generation, ZJ): the 4.0-litre straight-six and the 5.2-litre V8.
- 2000–2004 (second generation, WJ): the 4.7-litre V8, in Laredo and Limited trims.
- 2005–2010 (third generation, WK): the 3.7-litre V6, the 4.7 V8 (including flex-fuel), the 5.7 Hemi V8, the 3.0 V6 diesel and the 6.1-litre V8 SRT-8.
Tip: the Commander was designed to be built on the same line as the third-generation Grand Cherokee and uses the same engines.
