FLASH: Idle Quality, A/C Performance, and 3,900 RPM Limit
OVERVIEW:
This bulletin involves selectively erasing and reprogramming the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) with new software.

NOTE:
This bulletin applies to vehicles equipped with a 5.7L engine (sales code EKG) built prior to before February 20, 2005 (MDH 0220XX).
SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
The new PCM software corrects the following conditions that the vehicle operator may experience:

Idle Quality. Improvement to idle shake and/or idle fluctuations. The warm, no-load engine idle speed is raised from 500 RPM to 580 RPM to
correct this condition.

Air Conditioning Performance. During a driving cycle, the a/c system may fail to function at all or the a/c compressor may cycle too quickly resulting
in little or no cooling. This condition may be intermittent. This condition may occur more frequently in hot ambient temperature environments.

Engine Speed Limited. During a driving cycle the engine speed may be limited to 3,900 RPM. The vehicle operates and shifts normally other than
the engine speed is limited to 3,900 RPM. This condition may be intermittent.
DIAGNOSIS:
Using a Scan Tool (StarSCAN) with TechCONNECT and the appropriate Diagnostic Procedures, verify all engine systems are functioning as designed.
If DTCs are present record them on the repair order and repair as necessary before proceeding further with this service bulletin.
If the vehicle operator experiences the Symptom/Condition perform the Repair Procedure.
NOTE:

internet.
