THIS BULLETIN APPLIES TO VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH A 4.0L ENGINE AND A AW-4 AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION
MODELS:
1993 (ZJ) Grand Cherokee
SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
Vehicle exhibits an intermittent bucking condition at approximately 2000 RPM during normal driving conditions.
DIAGNOSIS:
Using the Scan Tool (DRB II) and appropriate diagnostic procedure manual or the Mopar Diagnostic System, verify that all vehicle engine systems are
functioning as designed. If Trouble Codes (Diagnostic Trouble Codes) are present, record them on the repair order for future reference and repair as
necessary. If no codes are present and all systems are functioning correctly, proceed with the following repair.

Crankshaft Position Sensor

REPAIR PROCEDURE:
This repair involves replacement of the crank position sensor.
1.
With the ignition key in the OFF position, disconnect the battery.
2.
Remove the crankshaft position sensor as outlined in the Grand Cherokee/Grand Wagoneer Service Manual, Publication No. 81-370-3147 and
replace the Sensor with the unit called out in PARTS REQUIRED.
3.
Connect the battery.
