Balance Shaft: Service and Repair
Balance Shaft - Removal
REMOVAL - BALANCE SHAFT
1. Disconnect the battery.
2. Remove the transmission and torque converter.
3. Position piston 1 to TDC.
NOTE: To set piston #1 to Top Dead Center (TDC), Rotate the engine at the crankshaft in the running direction. The markings on the
camshaft sprockets must be positioned opposite each other. The markings on the camshaft sprockets must be aligned with the cylinder
head and lie on the left side. The TDC marking on the vibration damper must be aligned with the stay on the timing case cover.
4. Remove the timing chain cover. See: Timing Cover/Service and Repair/Timing Cover - Removal
5. Remove the rear balance shaft cover.
