Repair Procedure
1.
Raise and support the vehicle.
2.
Remove the wheel and tire assembly.
3.
Drain a small amount of fluid from the master cylinder brake reservoir with a clean suction gun.
4.
Bottom the caliper pistons into the caliper by prying the caliper over.
5.
Remove the caliper support spring by prying the spring out of the caliper. Discard the support spring.
6.
Remove, and retain for later use, the caliper slide pin bushing caps and slide pins.
7.
Remove the caliper from the caliper anchor. Support the caliper with wire or string from a suspension component.
NOTE:
DO NOT ALLOW THE CALIPER TO HANG FROM THE FLEXIBLE BRAKE HOSE OR PERMANENT DAMAGE TO THE HOSE MAY
RESULT.
8.
Remove the brake pads and discard.
9.
Remove and retain the caliper anchor. Discard the caliper anchor attaching bolts.
10.
If no On-Car brake rotor lathe is available, the rotor should be discarded and replaced.
11.
If an On-Car brake rotor lathe is available, mark (index) the rotor relative to its position to the hub/wheel bearing assembly. Remove the brake
rotor.
12.
Clean the hub mounting face of the hub/wheel bearing assembly using a wire brush and/or fine emery paper and rinse with brake cleaner. If the
original rotors are to be used, clean the section of the rotor surface which contacts the hub/wheel bearing assembly and rinse with brake cleaner.
Take care to see that all corrosion and contamination is removed.
13.
Clean the two contact surfaces on the caliper anchor where the support spring rests.
