Courtesy Lamp Bulb: Service and Repair
Installation
BULB
WARNING: To avoid serious or fatal injury on vehicles equipped with airbags, disable the Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) before
attempting any steering wheel, steering column, airbag, seat belt tensioner, impact sensor, or instrument panel component diagnosis or service.
Disconnect and isolate the battery negative (ground) cable, then wait two minutes for the system capacitor to discharge before performing
further diagnosis or service. This is the only sure way to disable the SRS. Failure to take the proper precautions could result in accidental
airbag deployment.
CAUTION: Always use the correct bulb size and type for replacement. An incorrect bulb size or type may overheat and cause damage to the
lamp, the socket or the lamp wiring.
1. Align the base of the bulb (2) with the socket in the courtesy lamp housing (1).
2. Push the bulb straight into the socket until the base is firmly seated.
3. Align the courtesy lamp lens (3) with the lamp housing (1).
4. Support the courtesy lamp housing with one hand while firmly and evenly pushing the lens into the housing with the other hand, until the lens
snaps into place.
5. Reconnect the battery negative cable.
