Throttle Body: Description and Operation
Throttle Body
The throttle body is mounted to the top of the intake manifold and houses the fuel injector, fuel pressure regulator, throttle valve, Idle Speed Actuator
(ISA) motor, and Throttle Position Sensor (TPS). The fuel inlet and return tubes are connected to the throttle body by pressure type fittings. The throttle
body valve, controlled by the vehicle operator, via the throttle cable, controls the amount of air allowed to flow into the engine during vehicle operation.
Fuel mixture, idle speed, and injector pulse width are controlled by the Electronic Control Unit (ECU).
