Brake Pad: Service and Repair
Brake Shoe Removal
1980-83 CHEROKEE, TRUCK & WAGONEER; 1984-87 GRAND WAGONEER & TRUCK
1. Unfasten caliper as previously described, leaving brake hose attached to caliper. Suspend caliper from suspension spring. Do not let caliper
hang by hydraulic line.
2. Remove inboard and outboard brake shoes from caliper.
3. Remove support spring from inboard shoe, noting position of spring for assembly reference.
4. Remove sleeves and rubber bushings from mounting bolt bores in caliper mounting ears.
5. Clean mounting bolts, bolt core and bushing grooves in caliper mounting ears with suitable solvent. Do not use abrasives to clean or polish the
mounting bolts.
6. Clean caliper interior and dust boot using clean shop cloths. Do not use compressed air, as damage to boot may result.
