Brake Shoe: Service and Repair
Removal

1.
Raise and support vehicle.
2.
Remove wheel and tire assemblies.
3.
Release parking brake and loosen lock nuts at parking brake equalizer.
4.
Remove rear drum-to-hub locating screws, if equipped.
5.
Remove drums.
6.
Remove primary return spring, then the automatic adjuster actuating spring and secondary shoe return spring.
7.
Remove hold-down springs and brake shoe assemblies.
8.
On rear brakes, disengage parking brake cable from parking brake lever.
9.
Place suitable clamp over ends of wheel cylinder.
