Rocker Arm Assembly: Service and Repair

1.
Disconnect battery ground cable.
2.
Remove cylinder head cover and gasket.
3.
Remove the two capscrews at each bridge and pivot assembly, Fig. 6. Alternately loosen capscrews one turn at a time to avoid damaging bridge.
4.
Remove bridge and pivot assemblies with their rocker arms and pushrods and position aside. Bridge, pivot, rocker arms and pushrods must be
installed in their original locations.
5.
Clean all parts with a suitable solvent.
6.
Using compressed air blow out rocker arm and pushrod oil passages.
7.
Check rocker arms and pushrods for wear or damage. Replace as required.
8.
Install pushrods into their original locations. Ensure bottom end of each pushrod is centered into hydraulic valve lifter plunger cap.
9.
Install rocker arms, bridge and pivot assemblies into their original locations.
10.
Loosely install bridge capscrews on each bridge and pivot assembly.
11.
Torque capscrews alternately one turn at a time at each bridge and pivot assembly to 19 ft. lbs.
12.
Install cylinder head cover and gasket.
13.
Connect battery ground cable.
