Electric Assist Choke: Testing and Inspection
1. Disconnect electric assist choke wire from choke housing.
2. Connect one end of a test light to spade connector at choke housing and other lead of test light to choke wire.
3. Disconnect choke heat tube at choke housing and start engine.
4. Using a small thermometer, position bulb end of thermometer inside heat tube passage of choke housing.
5. Note thermometer reading and observe test light. Lamp should be out when 60-80F temperature is noted on thermometer. Lamp should be off
when temperature readings are below or above those specified previously.
NOTE: If test light does not go on at all, check 7 volt supply from alternator.
6. If test light does not go on within the 60-80 °f. range, replace choke cover.
