Manual front drive hubs are used on models 208 or 300 part-time front wheel drive transfer case assemblies only. Three different front drive hub
assemblies are used. Hub assembly model M243, is used on 1980-81 CJ and Scrambler models, hub model M253, is used on 1982-86 CJ and
Scrambler models, hub model M247, is used on Cherokee, Wagoneer, Grand Wagoneer and all truck models.
All three hub assembly models are manually locked or unlocked. These hubs are serviced as an assembly or subassembly only. Do not attempt to
disassemble these units. If an entire hub or subassembly is defective, replace the entire assembly or subassembly. The hubs may be removed for
cleaning and inspection purposes and for periodic lubrication only.
