EXCEPT WRANGLER
CJ & SCRAMBLER MODELS
1. Raise and support vehicle, then remove wheel.
2. Remove brake caliper.
3. Remove hub cap and drive flange snap ring.
4. Remove rotor hub bolts, hub cover and gasket.
5. Remove axle flange.
6. Straighten lip of lockwasher and remove outer nut, lockwasher, inner adjusting nut and bearing lockwasher.
7. Remove outer bearing and drum/rotor assembly. Do not damage oil seal.
8. Remove brake support plate or caliper adapter and splash shield as equipped.
9. Remove spindle and spindle bearing, then slide out axle shaft assembly.
10. Reverse procedure to install. Torque inner adjusting nut to 50 ft. lbs. while rotating hub to seat bearings, then back off adjusting nut 1/6 turn.
Install outer lockwasher and locknut. Torque locknut to 50 ft. lbs. and bend lip of washer over nut. Torque hub body bolts to 30 ft. lbs.
