Output Yoke/Flange: Service and Repair
MODEL 219 TRANSFER CASE
1. Raise and support vehicle, then remove fill and drain plugs and drain oil from transfer case.
2. Scribe alignment marks on propeller shaft and transfer case yoke for proper assembly, then disconnect shaft from yoke.
3. Using suitable tools, remove and discard transfer case yoke nut and seal washer, then remove yoke.
4. Remove speedometer cable from retainer, then scribe alignment marks on rear retainer for proper assembly and remove retainer.
5. Remove differential shims and speedometer driven gear.
6. Remove rear output bearing snap ring and remove bearing from retainer.
7. Using suitable tool, remove rear seal from retainer.
8. Install bearing in retainer, ensuring that shielded side of bearing faces case interior, then install bearing snap ring.
9. Using suitable tool, install rear yoke seal.
10. Install speedometer gear and differential shim.
11. Apply suitable sealant to mating surface of rear retainer and install retainer, torquing attaching bolts to 23 ft. lbs.
12. Install yoke seal, washer and yoke nut, torquing nut to 120 ft. lbs.
13. Install speedometer cable and connect propeller shaft.
14. Install drain plug and fill transfer case to bottom edge of fill plug hole with suitable lubricant.
15. Install fill plug.
