Wiper Switch: Testing and Inspection
Rear Wiper/Washer Switch
WIPER/WASHER SWITCH TEST
1. Place ignition switch in the Run position and rear wiper/washer switch in the Wash position.
2. Measure voltage at switch connector brown wire on 1989-91 models or terminal P on 1991 models.
3. Voltmeter should read battery voltage. If not, check rear wiper fuse.
4. Measure voltage at switch connector green wire on 1989-91 models or terminal B on 1991 models.
5. Voltmeter should read battery voltage. If not, replace switch.
6. Measure voltage at switch connector red wire on 1989-91 models or terminal A on 1991 models.
7. Voltmeter should read battery voltage. If not, replace switch.
8. Place ignition switch to Run position, then disconnect rear washer pump connector.
9. Measure resistance at pump connector black wire, with switch in wash position.
10.
Ohmmeter should read zero ohms with ignition switch Off. If not, repair open to ground.
11.
Measure voltage at pump connector violet wire, with switch in Wash position.
12.
If voltmeter reads battery voltage, replace pump. If not, check wiring.
13.
With ignition switch in Run position and rear washer pump connector disconnected, place wiper switch in Wipe.
14.
Measure resistance at motor connector ground terminal on 1989-91 models or terminal B on 1991 models.
15.
Ohmmeter should read zero ohms. if not, repair open to ground.
16.
Measure voltage at motor connector positive terminal on 1989-91 models or terminal A on 1991 models.
17.
Voltmeter should read battery voltage. If not, check wiring to fuse.
18.
Measure voltage at switch connector terminal C.
19.
If voltmeter reads battery voltage, replace motor. If not, repair open to switch Wiper/Washer Switch Continuity Test
