Discovery Series I Defender 90
AFFECTED RANGE:
• = All Discovery Series I derivatives (LJ) • = All Defender 90 derivatives up to 99MY - VIN XA 159810
PROBLEM:
REAR DIFFERENTIAL REPLACEMENT - BRAKE PIPE BRACKET
The 3 way brake pipe bracket cannot be re-fitted to new differential without modification.
CAUSE:
When existing Land Rover replacements having re-designed casings which vary dimensionally from their predecessors, will be supplied. This will result in the inability to secure the brake pipe bracket due to excessive clearance on the casing studs.
ACTION:
The condition only occurs when fitting new differential part number FTC5142 (Discovery Series I V8 and Defender 90) or FTC5143 (Discovery Series I TDi) to AFFECTED vehicles described in RANGE. Before fitting brake pipe bracket, add 2 spacers, part number TYF101160 between rear differential casing and bracket, as shown in illustration.
PARTS INFORMATION:
TYF101160 Spacer - 2 off required per vehicle.
