DETAIL

We have received a small number of product reports on bonnet insulation pads that make contact with the rocker cover (NVH), air cleaner and fan cowl on the 300 Tdi Defender.

A new bonnet insulation pad, which provides clearance to the items above has been introduced, vehicles from Vin range 939976 to 958808 that have a contact condition between the bonnet insulation pad and rocker cover (NVH) can be fitted with the new part, which is now available from Unipart, the new part is fully interchangeable with the previous part.

ACTION REQUIRED

Fix upon costomer complaint of damaged NVH pad due to contact, please send product reports on any vehicles with this issue manufactured after the Vin number listed above.

PARTS INFORMATION

AWR 2896 Bonnet insulation Pad Replaces BTR 6189.

PROCEDURE

1) If a contact condition is enident remove bonnet pad BTR 6189 and replace with new bonnet pad AWR 2896. 2) Check all hoses and jubilee clips on the engine for any possible contact condition with the bonnet pad and adjust if required. 3) Check for contact condition on the windscreen washer bottle and coolant tanks, if a contact condition is evident on the original bonnet pad then spacer washers may be fitted to move the tanks until sufficient clearance is achieved.
