Oil Leak From Crankshaft Rear Oil Seal Carrier

DETAIL

We have received a number of reports which indicate instances of oil leaks from the crankshaft rear oil seal carrier. A redesigned oil seal carrier and gasket has been introduced from the above Vin numbers.

ACTION REQUIRED

In the event of oil leaks being identified, from the crankshaft rear seal carrier, replace the seal carrier and gasket with the new components.

ERR 6818 Replaces ERR 4179 Crankshaft rear seal carrier

ERR 6811 Replaces ERR 4861 Crankshaft rear seal gasket

PROCEDURE

Refer to the workshop manual section 12

Also refer to Bulletin 12/13/95 for rear main cap ‘T’ seal procedure.

Note: The raised bead side of the gasket to be fitted toward the cylinder block.
