All vehicles from VIN YA 194718 onwards

PROBLEM:

UNNECESSARY REPLACEMENT OF PAS FLUID RESERVOIR Power Assisted Steering (PAS) fluid reservoirs are being replaced as the result of the filler neck fluid filter not being fitted.

CAUSE:

At VIN YA 194718 the reservoir neck filter shown in the illustration was deleted. This filter is not a specification requirement for Defender but was included in the component as supplied to Land Rover. The supplier has now revised the reservoir supply condition and the filter is no longer included.

ACTION:

Ensure that all relevant staff are aware of this change and that it is clearly understood that PAS fluid reservoirs MUST NOT be changed for the condition described above. The same change will apply to replacement fluid reservoirs supplied by Land Rover Parts. When existing stocks are exhausted, new reservoirs will be supplied without the neck filter.
