PROBLEM:

BATTERY DRAIN - DURING VEHICLE STAND DOWN

CAUSE:

During the vehicle delivery process or whilst the vehicle is subjected to extended stand down times (not used for a number of days) the vehicle may not be able to be started due to a battery charge level below normal voltage. This condition is caused by a quiescent drain on the vehicle electrical system, linked to electric window time out strategy.

ACTION:

At the first available opportunity install TestBook disc DRG0011 to re-configure the vehicle.

PROCEDURE

The following process applies to those vehicles that have already been through the Pre - Delivery process and also to those vehicles awaiting preparation. The only TestBook disc that will rectify battery drain is DRG0011.

Insert DRG0011 into TestBook (DRG0011Z will appear on the welcome screen). • Select ‘Diagnostic System’ and go into ‘Discovery Series II’ diagnostics. • From the main screen select ‘PDI’. • Connect TestBook to the vehicle following the instructions given, TestBook displays the market the vehicle is currently set to. It also asks ‘Do you wish to change this?’, select YES. • Select the market required, even if it's the same as the one already displayed (i.e. if TestBook says the vehicle is set to UK, even if this is correct, select UK again, likewise for any other market setting). • Continue through the TestBook PDI procedure as normal. • To check that the process has been completed correctly, sit in the vehicle with doors and windows closed. Turn ignition key to position ‘II’ and then back to ‘0’, operate the windows, the windows should operate for no longer than 45 seconds and then time out.
