DISCOVERY SERIES II

PROBLEM:

INADVERTENT ALARM ACTIVATION

CAUSE:

Early production vehicles have been built with a software problem within the alarm system which causes the alarm to activate at unpredictable times, this is prompted by a communication ‘handshake’ between the dual alarm sensors within the vehicle. Although the rear sensor has been fitted in production it has not been electrically connected. A new sensor has been made available and has been introduced into production.

ACTION:

At the first opportunity either during remedial warranty work or at the next service replace the rear volumetric sensor. It should be noted that this Service Action must be completed in a timely manner.

PROCEDURE

• Remove existing volumetric sensor from the rear of the vehicle. • Retrieve the sensor lead from within the upper trim, if not already connected to the sensor. • Ensure that all four leads are securely captive within harness connector. • Plug the lead into the new unit, part number YWC107000K, install sensor into the trim aperture. • Sit in the rear load space and lock the vehicle with the keyhead and remain very still. • Wait 30 seconds and then move vigorously in the rear of vehicle ie wave arms. • The alarm will activate, should the alarm not sound apply Testbook to determine if a fault exists.
