PROBLEM:

SRS PRE-TENSIONER HARNESS ROUTING

CAUSE:

The routing of the SRS pre-tensioner harness, beneath the front left hand seat on vehicles fitted with power seats, may foul on the seat adjust mechanism which could result in damage to the harness.

ACTION:

At the first available opportunity, next service or during remedial warranty work check the routing of the SRS harness beneath the front left hand seat on vehicles fitted with power seats and apply an additional tie wrap. Those vehicles that do not have powered seats will require inspection to determine if powered seats are fitted and a warranty claim must be made for inspection to remove the vehicle from the warranty database.

PROCEDURE

FRONT LEFT HAND SEAT ONLY • Power the front seat to its fully forward position. • Power the rear of the seat to its uppermost position to provide access to the SRS harness beneath the seat assembly. • Accessing the rear of the seat from the rear passenger footwell apply an additional tie wrap to the SRS harness which captivates both the SRS harness and seat motor harness to the seat frame as shown in the illustration opposite item B. Item A is the existing tie wrap. • Ensure all harnesses are clear of all moving parts.
