PROBLEM:
DUST ENTRY INTO REAR OF VEHICLE
CAUSE:
Tail door sealing inadequate for operation in dusty conditions. A build up of dust can occur on the top edge of the door which is deposited into the rear compartment when the door is opened.
ACTION:
A secondary tail door seal has been developed which is available for fitment only in cases where a customer complaint of dust entry as above has been confirmed.
Working in a dry and dust free environment, proceed as follows:
1. Refer to illustration and detail AA to establish correct seal orientation and to identify the aperture face B to which the seal adhesive strip is to be attached.
2. The body surface for the adhesive tape seal path must be clean and dry. Remove all impurities with panel cleaner and a clean cloth.
3. Visually align the seal so that it is centered between the trim finisher joining clips, C in illustration.

4. To apply the seal, first peel back approximately 40 mm of the adhesive liner from one end and stick the seal to the body.
5. Continue along the length of the seal, pulling back approximately 100 mm of the liner each time and pressing the seal firmly into place.
