Front Door - Sill Button Bounce

MODEL

Discovery 3 and 5 Door Derivatives

DETAIL

Should a vehicle experience intermittent locking, i.e. sill button retracts but bounces back when locking the vehicle using the remote handset this is an indication that the door lock solenoid may require adjustment within the door panel.

The solenoid if incorrectly adjusted will limit the travel of the plunger thus causing sill button bounce. Refer to procedure below for full adjustment details.

ACTION REQUIRED

Upon customer complaint of a front door sill button bounce when opening or closing, the actuator assembly plate may require adjustment, follow the process detailed below.

PROCEDURE

Refer to the workshop manual section 86.

1) Remove door casing and water curtain. 2) Slacken off all 4 fixing screws on the central door locking actuator (see illustration opposite) to allow the sill button to cycle fully. 3) Use key to operate latch from the outside of the vehicle, note the height of the sill button. 4) When adjusting the actuator check the sill button cycles fully to the same height as when using the key. 5) If you are unable to obtain full adjustment with plate, then change the actuator and follow process from step 3. 6) Retrim the door after confirming the lock is working correctly.
