Coolant Hose Routing

MODEL AFFECTED VEHICLES

Range Rover 300 All Range Rover and Discovery 300 Tdi Diesel Air Tdi Conditioning derivatives upto LH 650548 and LJ 091173 Discovery 300 Tdi

DETAIL

Upon final vehicle inspection it was noted that if the coolant bleed hose is positioned incorrectly there is a possiblity that a foul condition could exist between the hose and serpentine belt at the air conditioning pulley on 300 Tdi Diesel models. To overcome this condition it is necessary to release the hose at the thermostat housing and rotate away from the the drive belt, also ensure that the hose is secured by the retaining clips on the front cover.

ACTION REQUIRED

At Pre-delivery Inspection or the first available opportunity inspect all 300 Tdi Diesel Air conditioning derivatives to ensure adequate clearance exists between the serpentine belt and coolant hose.

PROCEDURE

Check the position of the coolant bleed hose which is routed below the air conditioning compressor and behind the serpentine drive belt to ensure that sufficient clearance between the hose and belt exists.

1). Check the hose for chaffing and where necessary replace. 2) If minimal clearance is noted between the hose and belt, release the hose clip at the thermostat housing and rotate the hose until sufficient clearance (minimum of 3mm) is achieved, adjust the hose in the front cover retaining clips to maintain the clearance. 3) Run the engine to ensure that this clearance is maintained.
