Alpine Light - Water Ingress

MODEL

Discovery Discovery

DETAIL

Investigations have shown that water may enter the vehicle between the Alpine light rubber seal and the roof panel, and deposit itself around the ‘D’ post area. To overcome this concern, a new Alpine light fixing lace has been introduced, the new lace is wider and will give a tighter fit into ‘glass to rubber’ and ‘rubber to roof panel, reducing water ingress in this area.

ACTION REQUIRED

Upon customer complaint of water ingress around the ‘D’ post, replace the Alpine light rubber lace with the new type as detailed below.

PARTS INFORMATION

AWR 1145 Alpine light locking lace (the part number remains the same)

PROCEDURE

Determine that water ingress is originating from the ‘D’ post area.

1. Remove the old locking lace at the centre of the Alpine light rubber seal by hand. 2. Take the new locking lace and place at the top of the Alpine rubber channel. 3. Using soap and water solution as a lubricant, feed the lace into the channel in the Alpine light seal, making sure that the corners are worked back to avoid stretching of the locking lace. 4. When the locking lace has been fitted completely around the Alpine light seal channel, cut the lace to the correct length, (ensure that the lace is not cut short).

Care point: When the lace is fitted ensure there is not a gap were the lace joins together.
