DETAIL

A small number of reports have been received that indicate water ingress is evident in the headlamp level unit on Discovery vehicles within the above Vin range. Water has been found to enter the unit between the adjusting shaft at the motor nose, and unit body. This may eventually cause the headlamp level unit to become inoperative.

On Discovery vehicles from Vin number 134782 a rubber seal has been introduced into production to reduce the likelihood of failure.

ACTION REQUIRED

Upon customer complaint of headlamp level failure, before replacing any headlamp level unit, ensure a rubber seal is present, This will prevent further water-ingress into the headlamp level unit.

PROCEDURE

Procedure for replacing the headlamp levelling unit.

1. Remove the headlamp from the level unit shaft. 2. Turn the motor until the pegs line up with the cutouts in the headlamp panel. 3. Remove the unit from the headlamp panel, and lift out from behind the headlamp. 4. Remove the headlamp connector. 5. Replace the headlamp level unit, ensuring that the new seal is in place to prevent further water-ingress .
