DETAIL

An oil leak between the reverse light switch and the gear box extension casing on R380 manual gear boxes has been identified on the leak test facility at Land Rover. The present copper washer is being replaced by an Aluminium washer to overcome this issue.

ACTION REQUIRED

If on customer complaint or regular service schedule, an oil leak is evident originating from the reverse light switch, replace the copper washer fitted between the extension casing and the reverse light switch, with an aluminium washer as per the process detailed below.

PROCEDURE

Refer to the workshop manual section 86

On identifying an oil leak eminating from the reverse light switch, remove the reverse light switch and replace the copper washer with the Aluminium washer part number ALU 1403L. Re-fit the reverse light switch.
