Steering Wheel Alignment
MODEL
Discovery Discovery
DETAIL
Steering wheel alignment was introduced as part of the Pre-Delivery Inspection from the above Vin numbers. Following recent warranty audits it has been highlighted that the incorrect claim procedure is being made. All Discovery’s from 97MY are processed via the new laser four wheel alignment rig, this ensures that the Steering box, intermediate shaft, Steering column, Rotary Cassette and Steering wheel are aligned within a maximum error of 4 degrees. During transportation some vehicles may experience suspension settlement, this will result in steering wheel misalignment. This settlement will normally be less than 45 degrees at the steering wheel and adjustment must be carried out using the Drag Link. No claim can be made for this action as it is part of the PDI process . On the rare occasion that the Steering wheel is misaligned by more than 45 degrees Process A on the following page must be used for resetting steering wheel alignment and the relevant SRO claimed. bulletin 57/01/95 and should be used in all instances where steering wheel adjustment is undertaken from the above Vin numbers.
