DETAIL

A small number of V8 petrol automatic Discovery derivatives may have been despatched from Land Rover with an insufficient oil in the Transfer gear box. Due to the inconsistent fill application of the oil dispensing equipment there may be as little as 0.5 litre of oil present.

ACTION REQUIRED

At Pre-delivery inspection or the earliest possible opportunity, which may require contact with your customer, check the transfer gearbox oil level and top up as necessary to achieve a desired fill, refer to the process below.

PROCEDURE

NOTE : Vehicles that you receive from the factory with a blue label attached to the interior mirror identified with the letter ‘T’, have had the oil level checked and do not require any further action.

Check oil level as per the workshop manual section 10

Fill through the level check hole with SAE EP 90 oil to achieve fill level of 2.3 litres of oil until oil seeps from the level plug hole.
