V8 Rear Transmission Mount -Vibration

MODEL

Range Rover Classic V8-Automatic and Manual Discovery V8-Automatic and Manual

DETAIL

It has been found on final inspection, that some of the vehicles within the above vin range, may have been despatched from Land Rover with the left hand side gearbox mounting incorrectly torqued, the torque figure achieved in some cases may be as low as 25 Nm, the correct torque figure should be 65 Nm. Further investigations have also found that the due to the incorrect torque figure, the transmission may move upwards on the left hand side as mounting hole is slotted, allowing the transmission mounting bracket to make contact with the body floorpan, causing vibration/noise which may be transmitted into the vehicle cabin.

Note: This concern was initially found on Range Rover Classic derivatives, but if the above systems are experienced on Discovery derivatives, the rear left hand gearbox mountings should be inspected for incorrect torque levels. Note: This bulletin superseds 44/01/95/EN, The SRO has been amended.

ACTION REQUIRED

At pre-delivery inspection or upon customer complaint, check the gearbox mounts are correctly torqued and clear of the floorpan.
