DETAIL
The workshop manual process for adjusting wheel bearings has been modified, in that a small pre-load is now acceptable. All vehicles from the above
VIN numbers have been built to a revised process. Should any service repair work be carried out on vehicles prior to the above VIN numbers, only the
new 1995 workshop manual revised process should be used to achieve the required hub bearing setting.
ACTION REQUIRED
Should any repair work be carried out on hub bearings, the new hub bearing procedure in the 1995 workshop manual should be used. Please ensure that
all workshop Technicians are aware of this procedure.

PROCEDURE
Refer to the 1995 workshop manual section 51 rear hub assembly refit, and section 54 front hub assembly refit, for the revised process. Below is the
updated portion of the Workshop manual.
Refit
12.
Fit spacing washer.
13.
Fit hub adjusting nut Tighten to 61 Nm (45 ft-lbs). Back off adjusting nut 90°. Tighten to 4 Nm (3 ft-lbs). This will give the required hub end float
of 0.010 mm (0.000394 in.).
14.
Fit a new lock washer.
