FILTER - HEADLAMP WASH SYSTEM
To: ALL RANGE ROVER DEALERS
The T-Valve in the headlamp wash system performs two functions:
It acts as a pressure regulating valve to boost pump pressure to the headlamp wash nozzles.
It acts as a check valve to prevent siphoning of washer solvent from the reservoir to the nozzles.
Debris in the system can cause the check valve to leak and fluid loss is the customer complaint.
In order to reduce the above complaints, a replaceable 3/8" in-line filter may be installed in the line connecting the pump to the T-valve as follows:
Cut the hose approximately 6" - 8" from the headlamp wash pump.
With an air nozzle, blow out the T-valve in its flow direction through the hose cut in Step 1. Clean the nozzles, if required, with a small drill or
acetylene torch tip cleaner.
Replace the T-valve if it continues to leak after being blown out.
Observing direction of flow, secure the filter to either end of the previously cut hose with two worm drive type hose clamps. Due to the pressure
involved, spring clamps aren't recommended.
Tie wrap the filter/hose assembly to the A/C high pressure hose.
Refill the reservoir with windshield washer solvent and test the system to make sure nozzle leaking has been eliminated.
The following in-line 3/8" fuel filters have been tested by RRNA and approved for this application:
