SITUATION:

DETERIORATED RUBBER BUTTON SPLITS

The material used to cover the lock and unlock buttons on remote handsets used with Discovery and Freelander models can be impacted by adverse
environmental influences. The customer may complain that the rubber has split or cracked.

RESOLUTION:

REPLACE BUTTON COVER MATERIAL

When the rubber button cover on the remote has split, perform the procedure outlined in this TIB to replace the cover.

Install handset kit components on remote.

REPAIR PROCEDURE

INSTALL PLIP REPAIR COMPONENTS

CAUTION:

Anti-static precautions must be observed when performing this procedure. (Land Rover Tool LRNA-STATK)

1.

Carefully insert a small flat bladed screwdriver into the cutout at the rear of the handset.

CAUTION:

Damage to the printed circuit board (PCB) inside the plip can occur if the screwdriver enters the handset too far.

Gently pry the covers apart. (Figure 1)
