Audio Noises From Rear Subwoofer Speaker

DETAIL

Discovery vehicles between the listed VINs may have been built with subwoofer amplifier STC 946. With this amplifier the rear subwoofer speaker may
emit a "POP" or "THUMP" type noise when the ignition is on (position II at the ignition key) and the brake lights are activated. The noise is most
audible with the radio unit off, or with the radio on but at minimum volume.

NOTE

For noises emitted from the "E" post speakers refer to bulletin 86/02/94/US

ACTION REQUIRED

On customer complaint, verify symptoms and cause, replace amplifier if required.

PARTS INFORMATION

Amplifier STC 946 is replaced by STC 1824

PROCEDURE

Refer to the workshop manual section 86 for removal procedure. The amplifier is located at the rear of the subwoofer assembly and access is gained by
first removing the taildoor subwoofer assembly.

WARRANTY

Normal warranty policy and procedure applies.
