DETAIL
A new brake pad has been introduced for the front caliper assembly. The new pad has a revised shim fitted on the back side which reduces brake squeal
on Discovery vehicles.
The diagnostic steps and repair procedures detailed on the following page were developed as an element of the Land Rover Way Operation PRIDE. This
TIB provides a library location for PRIDE information within the Land Rover North America technical literature system.
ACTION REQUIRED
Upon customer complaint for the brake squeal symptoms outlined, install the new style brake pads.
PARTS INFORMATION
STC 3765 - Front brake pads (axle set)
PROCEDURE
Refer to the Workshop Manual, Section 70 (Brakes) for specific brake pad replacement and repair instructions.
1.
Before fitting new brake pads, check for fouling between the brake rotors and mud shields.
2.
Check that the rotor run~ut is within specified limits as outlined in the Workshop Manual.
3.
If an anti-squeal brake pad shim (STC3137 or LRNA203) has been fitted previously, remove the shims prior to installing the new pad.
NOTE:
The Discovery brake system does not have floating caliper brakes. Adhesive is not recommended on the back of the pads.
CAUTION:
Do not use any adhesive on the new brake pad.

Install front axle brake pad set STC3765.
5.
Install road wheels and torque lug nut to specification.
