Perform the diagnostic procedures and repairs outlined in this bulletin for oil pan resealing.
PREPARATION
1.
Drain engine oil.
2.
Reinstall drain plug. Use a new joint (sealing) washer if necessary and tighten to:

40 Nm (30 lbf. ft.) Discovery
^
43 Nm (32 lbf.ft.) Range Rover
3.
If a Range Rover vehicle, perform the following:
^
Position support under chassis front cross member (figure 1).
^
Lower lift to give clearance between front axle and sump.

Oil Pan Removal

Remove screw holding dipstick tube to valve cover.
