NOTE: 

The front cover bolts/studs enter into an oil pressure cavity, so sealing is critical. Do not use a thread locking compound. Use a thread sealing
compound such as Loctite(R) # 545, # 567.

5.

Apply thread sealing compound to the front cover bolts/studs.

6.

If Range Rover, install front cover studs.

7.

Position oil pan and finger-tighten bolts.

8.

Tighten bolts progressively in two stages in the sequence shown in figure 6.

Tighten to 10 Nm. (71 lbf ft.)

Tighten to 25 Nm. (18 lbf ft.).

9.

If Range Rover, perform the following:

Raise lift and remove cross member support.

^

Lower lift.

10.

Install screw holding dipstick tube to valve cover.

11.

Refill engine with oil to the proper level.

12.

Start engine and check for leaks.
