PROCEDURE

NOTE:  Always use the new heat shield and correct bolts for crankshaft sensor replacement.

The new mounting bolts are two different lengths. The longer bolt installs through the heat shield (see figure in procedure).

Perform the diagnostic procedures and repairs outlined below for repair of the crankshaft sensor and heat shield

REMOVAL

1.

Loosen top (long) bolt Remove and discard the old heat shield.

2.

Disconnect the CKP multiplug.

3.

Remove lower (short) bolt and remove CKP sensor.

INSTALLATION

1.

Position the new CKP sensor, and install new lower bolt

2.

Tighten to 6 Nm (54 lbf.in.).

3.

Install new heat shield, making sure to route wiring hamess into the cut-out in the heat shield.

4.

Install top bolt and tighten to 6 Nm (54 lbf.in.).
