Mass Air Flow Sensor (MAFS) Connections

MODEL:
Range Rover, Discovery, Defender

AFFECTED VEHICLES:
Range Rover from LH 655827, 
Discovery from LJ 112195 and 
Defender from LD 954528

DETAIL

From the above vehicle vin numbers gold plated MAFS connections were introduced into production. The introduction of these connections make
greasing (as described in Service Bulletin P93/19-002) totally unnecessary. The use of gold connections will prevent the symptoms described in the
above Bulletin from arising.

NOTE:

A)

Do not use any form of terminal lubricant/protection on gold plated MAFS connections.

B)

Non plated MAFS units and gold plated MAFS units are not interchangeable.

No action required, for information only

PARTS INFORMATION

Gold plated terminals can be easily identified. Inspection of the male and female terminal contact faces will identify the gold terminals.

MAFS with gold plated terminals: 

ERR 5198 

MAFS with non plated terminals: 

ESR 1057

PROCEDURE

Do not use terminal lubricant/grease protection on gold terminals.
