From the above VIN numbers and gearbox number 55A0416034J all factory built R380 gearboxes are fitted with a revised design of 5th layshaft gear
retention. This modification improves joint integrity between 5th gear and layshaft, significantly increasing durability. The component changes are
detailed below.

Note: The new parts must not be mixed with old ones.

ACTION REQUIRED
When performing repairs upon vehicles listed above new parts should be used.

FTC 4980 replaces FTC 2723 - (Discovery)
FTC 4982 replaces FTC 2941 - (Defender)

5th Layshaft Gear

FTC 4977 replaces FTC 2724
FTC 4978 replaces FTC 2945

FAM 9270 - Split Collar
