DETAIL
A new set of exhaust down pipes has been introduced with revised catalyst end cones on vehicles within the above VIN range. Investigations have shown
that the position of the catalyst cones may cause two concerns:
1.
Close proximity of the clutch slave cylinder heat shield to the left hand catalyst.
2.
Close proximity of the front left hand heated oxygen sensor (HO2S) to the transmission oil cooler pipes.
ACTION REQUIRED
If the customer identifies a rattle from this area, check the clearance and condition of items 1 and 2 above. Adjust heat shields where necessary on
vehicles within the specified VIN range.

PROCEDURE
Process for checking items 1 and 2 above
To change heat shield:
1.
Loosen bottom bolt on clutch cylinder, and remove heat shield.
2.
Fit new heat shield ESR 4516. Ensure a minimum clearance of 5 mm (0.20 in.) between the heat shield and left catalyst.
