1.

Using seal installer tool LRT-41-012. (figure 2) and tool LRT-99-003 (figure 3), install the new seal.

Install new flange, dust seal, felt washer, and tighten new nut to 162 Nm. (117 lbf. ft.).

Install driveshaft

Install new nyloc(R) nuts to secure shaft and tighten to 47 Nm. (34 lbf. ft.).

Rear Seal Removal

1.

Remove rear driveshaft and tie driveshaft aside.

2.

Remove parking brake drum screw and remove parking brake drum.

3.

Using tool LRT-51-003, hold flange and remove pinion nut and washer (figure 4).

4.

Using tool LRT-54-AO1 or equivalent, carefully remove old oil seal.

5.

Remove and discard metal dust shield from rear output housing.

Inspection

1.

Inspect oil seal bore for damage or sharp edges.

2.

Remove any sharp edges that may damage new seal.

3.

Check transfer gearbox breather operation if not checked previously.
