Discovery Series II: Correct Installation of AT Selector Knob

SITUATION:

When fitting the automatic transmission selector knob after a service repair, the park release button rod can be damaged. The damage can result from
incorrectly positioning the gear selector when the selector knob is fitted. (Figure 1)

RESOLUTION:

When fitting the automatic transmission selector knob, the selector MUST be in the PARK (P) position (Figure 2) to ensure that:

The latching rod is not damaged

^

The latching rod does not cause damage to the raised segments of the selector detents.
