Fascia Glovebox Noisy On Opening
MODEL AFFECTED VEHICLES
Range Rover All SRS derivatives from LH 647645 to LH 651619 and Discovery LJ 081991 to LJ 095361
DETAIL
It has been found that under certain conditions when opening the fascia glovebox an audible 'click' can be heard as the glovebox is lowered, the cause of this click has been identified as an incorrectly routed SRS harness behind the fascia assembly. North American and Japanese derivatives:- The SRS harness should under normal circumstances be routed behind the relay bracket but it has been found that a small number of vehicles may have been despatched from Land Rover with the harness routed in front of the bracket. European and Rest of World derivatives:- The relay bracket is not fitted to these derivatives and therefore the SRS harness may not be clipped in place which results in the harness hanging loose and contacting the glove box on opening.
ACTION REQUIRED
Upon customer complaint of an audible click from behind the fascia glovebox, check and if neccessary reroute the harness behind the relay bracket (dependant on derivative) and clip in place as shown in the illustration..
PARTS INFORMATION
Not applicable.
PROCEDURE
Refer to the Workshop Manual section 76 for removal of the glovebox assembly.
Ensure the vehicle ignition key is removed. 1) Locate the yellow insulated SRS harness and disconnect the harness plug. 2) North American/Japanese derivatives:Remove the retaining clip from the relay bracket, reposition the clip to the right of the bracket as shown in the illustration opposite. European and Rest of World derivatives:- If the harness has been left loose ensure the cable is clipped in position as shown at 3. 3) Re-route the harness behind the relay bracket and secure the harness in the clip. 4) Re-connect the harness plug. Switch on the ignition and monitor the SRS warning light to ensure it extinguishes.
