DETAIL

A number of reports have been received which indicate instances of a metallic/tapping noise originating from the serpentine drive belt area, this noise is more noticeable when the engine is cold. Investigations have shown this to be hardened underbody wax contaminating the serpentine drive belt and drive belt pulleys.

Once confirmed, clean / degrease all the pulleys and idlers, ensuring the multi-rib grooves on the pulleys are free from contamination. 3. Renew serpentine belt if necessary. 4. Retest vehicle, with the engine cold.

Note: If symptoms persist replace serpentine drive belt pulleys and idlers.
