Preparation of Vehicles

MODEL

New Range Rover Range Rover Classic with Air-Suspension

DETAIL

Vehicles equipped with EAS will, as a normal function, periodically level when parked unattended. Before any service or repair is undertaken on vehicles with air suspension, requiring access to the underside or wheelarches, the vehicle should be allowed to relevel by opening and closing any of the side doors, whilst all other doors and tailgate remain closed, and the ignition switched off. The underside of air suspension vehicles should remain clear of any obstacles / debris at all times whilst the vehicles are parked, as selfleveling may result in a reduced trim height.

New Range Rovers should be set in ‘high-lock’ using Testbook during any service work carried out which does not require chassis to axle displacement, this will hold the vehicle in extended position until reset by testbook, and prevent re-levelling.

ACTION REQUIRED

Please make all workshop tecniticians and staff aware of the above points.

PROCEDURE

Refer to the workshop manual section 60 (self levelling and height settings) when working on New Range Rover, locking the vehicle into ‘high lock’ with Testbook will hold the vehicle in the extended position until released with testbook, this will stop the air suspension making any corrections to the vehicle height if any of the doors are opened and closed, with the ignition turned off.

Refer to the workshop manual section 60 (system operation) when working on Range Rover Classic air suspension vehicles. With the engine running raise the vehicle into extended profile, and by opening one of the side doors this will lock the air suspension in extended profile and the ignition can be turned off, and any service or repair work may be carried out.
