STEERING BOX CENTERING - 1987/1991
The following procedures must be used when centering steering on all models to date. Please consult the Workshop Manual, Section 57 for nut/bolt
torque values.
STEERING CENTERING
1.
Disconnect draglink from drop arm.
2.
Turn steering wheel to full RIGHT lock.
3.
Turn steering wheel back towards center EXACTLY two (2) turns.
4.
Remove and install steering wheel (steering box still in exact center position) in the straight ahead position.
5.
Torque steering wheel nut to 28 ft. lbs.
IMPORTANT:
Final steering wheel positioning must be made with the draglink sleeve. Do not reposition steering wheel on steering shaft once steps 1-5 above have
been carried out.
Steering box lash adjustments, if required, must be made at the steering center point as determined above. All other steering procedures remain
unchanged.
