Oil Temperature Sensor/Switch: Service and Repair

Oil Temperature Sensor

Service Repair No - 12.60.65 

Removal 

1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.

WARNING: Do not work on or under a vehicle supported only by a jack. Always support the vehicle on safety stands. 

2. Raise and support the vehicle.
3. Remove the radiator splash shield.

CAUTION: Before disconnecting or removing the components, ensure the area around the joint faces and connections are clean. Plug open
connections to prevent contamination.

4. Remove the oil temperature sensor.

Disconnect the electrical connector.

Position a container to collect the fluid.

Installation 

1. Install the oil temperature sensor.

Clean the component mating faces.

^

Tighten the oil temperature sensor to 10 Nm (7 ft. lbs.).

Connect the electrical connector.

2. Install the radiator splash shield.
3. Connect the battery ground cable.
4. Check and top-up the engine oil.
